Taylor Woodrow, a VINCI Construction subsidiary in the UK, won the 2022 Innovation Award at the Constructing Excellence SECBE Awards for successfully completing the first pour of EXEGY® ultra-low-carbon concrete in the UK.
The pour was completed at Eco Park South project, the first phase of a £1.2bn sustainable waste management hub at Edmonton EcoPark, North London.
The EXEGY® ultra-low-carbon concrete used by Taylor Woodrow on this project reduces CO2 emissions by 70% compared to ordinary portland cement (OPC) concrete – an unprecedented environmental performance for a class C40/50 concrete. A total of 350 cu. metre slab of EXEGY® ultra-low-carbon concrete has been poured on the project.
This achievement illustrates the drive to reach carbon neutrality for the concretes used on VINCI Construction worksites by 2050 and reduce emissions by 78% looking to 2035.
