Laying the first stone of the Solferino in Rennes (France)

ADIM Ouest and SOGEA Bretagne BTP (both subsidiaries of VINCI Construction) laid the first stone of the Solferino, a future office block in Rennes that has been designed to be flexible in its use and very environmentally friendly.

Located within the EuroRennes industrial zone, the Solferino is the first block to start construction and is scheduled to be delivered by end-2024. Part of the building will accommodate the North-West Building Delegation of VINCI Construction’s Building France Division.

The building comprises nine storeys above ground and two underground levels. The floor area spans 7,138 m², including 6,935 m² of office space and retail spaces on the ground level.

In order to minimise the building’s carbon footprint, a number of innovative techniques were implemented, while the building envelope was built using low-carbon concrete and wood.

Moreover, the superstructure will be built using exclusively EXEGY® low-carbon concrete, which reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 25% compared with conventional concrete. The building is also seeking to obtain a number of certifications including E+C performance (Energy 3 and Carbon 1), BREEAM Very Good label, and level 1 biosourced materials.
