Since January 2024, a new edifice has been rising to transform the La Part-Dieu business center. With 15 stories and a surface area of more than 30,000 m², the M+ is a mixed office and residential high-rise building, conceived by the New York architecture firm Kohn Pederson Fox Associates (KPF) and the French agency SOHO Architecture, on behalf of the DCB International Group, key actor of real estate development in the region of Lyon. The enclosed macro-package is carried out by CITINEA, contractor of the project and Center-East subsidiary of VINCI Construction Holding.
For the 100% low-carbon concrete site of this major project in the middle of La Part-Dieu, the CITINEA construction teams are deploying various EXEGY® solutions, with particularly a significant part of very-low-carbon formulations. This operation mobilizes all the technical and operational resources of the Center-East region, in collaboration with the teams of VINCI Construction Services Partagés.
The concretes used—standardized, engineering and performance types alike—have been designed in laboratory, tested in a batching plant by Cemex, partner of EXEGY, and validated by the expert concrete engineering teams of VINCI Construction, this collaboration being a pledge of quality decarbonized concretes, and of their curing time of about solely 15 hours, an essential factor for the successful completion of the M+ operation. The concretes implemented in the M+ site are also locally provided, and are made of CEM III and II, ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBS) and limestone filler.
In total, more than 25,000 m² of concretes will be poured by CITINEA for this project, notably for technical construction works such as an 80 cm thick foundation raft for the soil pressure and the subpressure of the phreatic zone (for 4 underground levels), and housing façades made of béton brut with matrix balconies. Up to 1,200 m³ of concretes are realized daily by the CITINEA construction teams, thereby contributing to the innovative deployment of EXEGY® solutions.
Through these achievements, the M+ site is a prime example of the technical efficiency of VINCI’s environmental approach for its activities, and a blueprint for the Group’s forthcoming projects.
