Bateg, a VINCI Construction subsidiary, is working on the Edenn office complex, located in Nanterre outside Paris, on behalf of Icade.
Designed by the architecture firm Brenac & Gonzalez & Associés, the 30,500 sq. metre office building will have a mixed wood, concrete and metal structure. It will also include:
one underground level and eight levels in the superstructure;
– planted terraces and loggias;
– a car park and technical rooms on the underground level;
– a multi-company restaurant, cafeteria, fitness room and businesses.
The ground floor will also feature retail space.
The concrete used in the engineering structure contains slag. The staircases are precast by Soriba (EXEGY® partner) and formulated with L+C3, a solution containing 50% limestone filler and an addition of metakaolin.
A total of 13,000 cu. metres of concrete will be used. The programme is part of a strong environmental policy that aims to obtain eight labels and certifications. The project targets the use of 100% low-carbon concrete.
Most of the steel implemented is recycled. More than 90% of the concrete poured so far has been low-carbon, breaking down into 80% low-carbon and 11% very low-carbon, produced by our partner EXEGY BSM (Béton Solutions Mobiles).
That comes out to more than 265,000 kg of CO2 equivalent avoided to date. The complex also includes a 1,700 sq. metre low-carbon prestressed hollow core slab and a 500 tonne structure in XCarb®, ArcelorMittal’s recycled and renewably produced steel. This project has taken an innovative route by implementing new construction tools such as smart hooks and formwork panels with a drawer system.
